I was invited to join a fun Card Swap Chain. It operates similar to a game we used to play as kids, where one person whispers a message to the first person, then the second person tries to remembers the message to pass onto the next person and so on. At the end after it being passed around the group, you usually end up with a completely different message.
It's a similar concept but with CASEing (Copying And Selectively Editing) cards. It was a lot of fun and so interesting to see how others in the group interpreted people's designs and made it their own.
In the first round, each of us designed a card and sent it on the next person on the list. That person then CASEd our card and sent it on to the next person on the list and so on, until it went all the way around the ten participants and the final version came back to the original creator.
The first card in this chain was created by Tracy Held. My suggestion is that you start at her blog post, then click through the blog hop list, so you can see the evolution of the original design.
My card you see below was the 9th version of the original card created by Tracy.
The technique I used on this card is similar to the retiform technique, but rather than use stamping, I have used the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper, cutting it at angles to create a puzzle type design. The Basic White cardstock layer accentuates the angles of the Designer Series Paper pieces.
For the stamping and die cutting I have used the Beautiful Butterflies Bundle.
I used the spots stamp from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set to create a background on the Pretty Peacock card base.
I love ALL the butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies Bundle and the smallest butterfly die looks great on this card, which I cut from Gorgeous Grape cardstock. They coordinate so well with this Designer Series Paper. I added some Wink of Stella to the butterflies to make their wings sparkle.
The Sentiment and label die are also from the Beautiful Butterflies Bundle.

Sometimes the cards in the Card Swap Chain change so much that if you only saw the first and last cards, you wouldn't realise that that they were on the same chain and been CASEd from the original card. For this chain the first and last cards are very different, though both kept a form of the split card technique.
