Card Swap Chain - Impressions Abloom Fun Fold Card

In May I was invited to join a fun Card Swap Chain. It operates similar to a game we used to play as kids, where one person whispers a message to the first person, then the second person tries to remembers the message to pass onto the next person and so on. At the end after it being passed around the group, you usually end up with a completely different message.

It's a similar concept but with CASEing (Copying And Selectively Editing) cards. Though it took me a few rounds to grasp the entire concept and how it worked with cards, it was a lot of fun and so interesting to see how others in the group interpreted people's designs and made it their own.

In the first round, each of us designed a card and sent it on the next person on the list. That person then CASEd our card and sent it on to the next person on the list and so on, until it went all the way around the ten participants and the final version came back to the original creator.

The first card in this chain was created by Me. My suggestion is that you start here on my blog post, then click through the blog hop list, so you can see the evolution of the original design.

  • For my card I chose to create a Z-Fold fun fold card with the Impressions Abloom Suite Collection. I love all the pretty florals in this suite.
  • The Designer Series Paper was cut to size and adhered to the panels on the card base.
  • Ribbon was wrapped around the front panel and tied in a bow.
  • I die cut two Basic White ovals from the Impressions Abloom Dies to use for the front and inside panels. I inked around around the edges of the ovals using a Sponge Dauber and Blackberry Bliss ink, to create a border and tie in with the card base colour. I adhered the insert oval first, then closed the card and carefully aligned the front oval over the insert oval, ensuring it was adhered only on the left side of the card front.
  • I used the Foiled Frames and Labels for the gold frame on the front oval panel.
  • The sentiment from the Impressions Abloom Stamp Set was stamped using Blackberry Bliss ink.
  • I then die cut some of the flowers and leaves from the Impressions Abloom Dies, sponged a little Blackberry Bliss ink around the Crushed Curry flower centres and small flowers before layering them onto to the card front.
