Painterly Pears Bandstand Card

The bandstand cards are a very special 3D card that are beautiful to display on a mantle or buffet.

This bandstand card that I have created was a lot easier to construct than it looks. In fact the card base itself is super quick and not too complicated at all, but it was the decorating that took the most time. 


The card base is made up of tree main pieces, back panel, top band and bottom band with the addition of a strip of Window Sheet (thick acetate) for the front panel which is what you adhere the decorative items to. You then have the decorative Designer Series Paper layers on each panel to make it look pretty and a greeting panel on the reverse side of the back panel.

The card folds flat to fit into a regular size envelope, as seen below.

Measurements

Card Base - Mossy Meadow Cardstock - 4-1/8" x 5-3/4", score on short side at 3/4" and 3-3/8"

Bands - Mossy Meadow Cardstock - (Cut 2) - 5-3/4" x 1-1/2", score on long side 3/4", 2", 3-3/4" and 5" 

Insert Back Panel Layer - Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper (Petal Pink) - 2-1/2" x 5-5/8" (pattern portrait/vertical)

Insert Side Panel Layers - Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper (Petal Pink) (cut 2) -           5/8" x  5-5/8" (pattern portrait/vertical)

Band Layers - Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper (Darling Duckling) (pattern landscape/horizontal) (cut 2) - 3-7/8" x 1-3/8" . On long side cut to create into 3 pieces at 1-1/8" and 1-5/8", which leaves 1-1/8" piece as third piece.

Outer Side Layers- Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper (Darling Duckling) pattern portrait/vertical (cut 2) - 5/8" x 5-5/8"

Window Sheet Front Panel - 1-1/2" x 5-1/2"

Back Message Panel - Basic Beige Cardstock - 2-1/2" x 5-5/8"

Ribbon Approx. 45cm

Stamped Pears and Leaves - Basic White Cardstock - 10.5cm x 11cm

Leaves - Old Olive Cardstock - 4.5cm x 11cm

Cross hash die cut - Early Espresso Cardstock - 4cm x 6cm

Small flowers - Petal Pink Cardstock - 4cm x 5cm

Label - Basic Beige Cardstock - 4cm x 2.5cm

Instructions

  1. Cut and score card base.
  2. Cut and score bands.
  3. Cut Insert Back Layer and Insert Side Panels Designer Series Paper Layers.
  4. Cut Band Designer Series Paper layers.
  5. Cut Outer Side Panel Designer Series Paper layers.
  6. Cut Window Sheet
  7. Cut Back Message Panel
  8. Adhere Insert Back Layer and Insert Side Panels to base.
  9. Adhere Band Designer Series Paper Layers to Band Panels, with the widest piece on the centre panel and the other two pieces either side of the centre. Leaving small end tabs blank.
  10. Attaching Bands - Adhere the left inside of the small end tab to the left side 3/4" outside panel of the base, aligning with the top of the Card Base, using Multipurpose Glue. Do not allow the tab to extend past the back panel.
  11. Attach the right side end of the band to the right side of the card base as in step 10.
  12. Repeat steps 10 and 11 with the bottom band.
  13. Adhere Outer Side Layers of Designer Series Paper to 3/4" panels, covering Designer Series Paper and end tabs of bands.
  14. Add two strips of Tear & Tape along top and bottom of short sides of Window Sheet Panel. Adhere bottom short end to the inside of the bottom centre panel using Tear & Tape. Push top end through front of card, remove backing paper from Tape and push card down onto the Window Sheet to adhere. (see video for tips)
  15. Stamp, colour and die cut your images to decorate your card. 
  16. Adhere all decorative elements to your card, including embellishments.
  17. Wrap ribbon around the top panel tie a bow in the centre panel. Adhere with a Mini Glue Dot under the bow.
  18. Stamp your message panel and ink the edges with a Sponge Dauber. Write your message, then adhere back panel to cover the ribbon. 
  19. Fold flat to fit into envelope. Pop up for display.
