Beautiful Butterfly Shaker Card

Shaker Cards are not something that I create very often, as you will see in my video below, however this one turned out ok, considering I hadn't made one in years.

I love the shaker elements within the butterfly cut out and the addition of the coloured embossed butterflies on the card front. I'm really loving these butterflies. Aren't they just so pretty!

I started out with the idea to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) the butterfly card from the Stampin' Up!® website with the Beautiful Butterflies Bundle. Along the way I made a few edits to make it my own and I am happy with the finished design.

The trick to creating shaker cards, is to get the layers right and the elements done in the correct order (so I discovered as I was making this card, nearly making a big boo boo - see my video).

1. Cut and fold card base.

2. Die cut and emboss butterflies from Basic White layer, using the Beautiful Butterflies Hybrid Embossing Folder.

3. Colour small embossed butterflies with ink and Blending Brushes.

4. Using Basic Gray ink, stamp large butterfly from the Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set onto Beautiful Bokeh Designer Series Paper, using a pre-cut butterfly template, or use Basic White front panel as template for placement. (see video)

5. Adhere stamped Designer Series Paper to Card base.

6. Adhere Window Sheet to the back of the Basic White butterfly cut and embossed panel.

7. Adhere Foam Adhesive Strips to the Window Sheet around the butterfly shape on the back of the panel, ensuring there are no gaps between pieces of Foam.

8. Adhere Foam Adhesive Strips around outer edges of Basic White layer for support and to create a neat outer border of adhesive.

9. Scatter Itty Bitty Bokeh Mix sequins onto the centre of the stamped butterfly.

10. Remove backing paper from all of the Foam Adhesive Strips and carefully adhere the Basic White panel to the front of the card over the stamped butterfly, lining up the die cut butterfly over the stamped image. Be sure to press firmly around the butterfly on all of the adhesive strips so that sequins cannot escape.

11. Stamp, heat emboss and die cut the sentiment.

12. Adhere sentiment label to card front, using Stampin' Dimensionals and add sequins on the sentiment label.

Shake away!
