Beach Scene with Friendly Seagulls Card

Thank you for joining us for this month's Let's Craft Together Blog Hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up!® Demonstrators from Australia who have developed a wonderful friendship through our love of stamping and admiration of each other's creativity.

Each month, one of us takes turn to set a blog hop challenge, where we share our creativity with others through our blog hops. Be sure to hop along to them all, for lots of creative inspiration. You will see the list below.

This month it was Sharni Green who chose the theme of our challenge and she has chosen a Sketch Challenge based on the sketches on page 12 of the January-April 2025 Mini Catalogue.

Sketch Challenges are always so much fun and it's interesting to see how everyone interprets the sketches with their own creativity.

The sketch I have chosen to use is the 6th from the left on the top row. It has three vertical panels, with a sentiment banner and some twine.

I knew that the stamps I wanted to use would not fit across the card in a portrait orientation so I flipped my card around to the landscape orientation, then followed the basic sketch layout. I added my twine just below and my sentiment just above the main three panels that run across the layout, rather than adding them right over the panels, as I didn't want to cover up the images. Here is how I used the sketch:

Beach Scene with Friendly Seagulls Card

I was so excited to create with the Friendly Seagulls stamp set to create this beach scene card. This stamp set is one of the free items that can be chosen with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration, until 28th February 2025.

I also used the FREE Bloom Impressions Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration for the cloud background.

The Friendly Seagulls stamp set is such a fun set with those cheeky seagulls and I love the addition of the chips stamp.

I have had my chips taken by seagulls a few times and one time I was with my friend walking down the street near the harbour and a cheeky seagull swooped in a stole my friends hamburger right out of her hand. We still laugh about that to this day and this stamp set just brings back those funny memories.

I love playing with different techniques and for this card I used water colouring with Stampin' Write Markers, direct marker to stamp technique, ink blending techniques and tearing technique.

You can see a full video tutorial of how to make this card below.

  1. Love the way you have used the sketch to create your card (and the story about the hamburger - cheeky devil!)
