Watercoloured Sketched Butterflies Card

I just love butterflies and they have special meaning to me, as my Mum also loved butterflies. When I saw this Sketched Butterflies Bundle, I knew it was one I would be adding to my collection. I love that it has a range of sizes and shapes of butterflies and the sketched details adds that touch of whimsy and artistic style. 

Watercoloured Sketched Butterflies Card

I started with a Thick Basic White Cardstock base cut to open in a portrait tent fold.

I then adhered the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. 

The white background was dry embossed with the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder, then adhered to the Designer Series Paper.  

I then die cut some of the smaller butterflies and the butterfly clusters from Basic White Cardstock and adhered them over the embossed background, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the glue sponging technique (see video below). 

For my focal butterflies, I first stamped them in Versamark ink onto Thick Basic White Cardstock, then heat embossed them in gold embossing powder. 

I then stamped some ink colours onto a clear block, added water from my Water Painters to dilute the ink and water coloured the butterflies. I used similar tones to the colours in the Designer Series Paper. 

I allowed the ink to dry, then die cut the butterflies with the coordinating Sketched Butterflies Dies. These were mounted to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals. 

I stamped the sentiment in Petunia Pop ink onto Fresh Freesia Cardstock, then cut each end at an angle and adhered the sentiment label to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
