Vintage Layers of Beauty Card

I was so excited to have my first play with the Layers of Beauty Decorative Masks, Stamp Set and Dies. These three products come together as a bundle (or you can order them separately - but why would you?) and are simply stunning.

Layering the masks in order from 1 to 5 and blending colour using Blending Brushes over the stamped image gives a beautiful coloured image with depth and shading of colour. You can use lots of other techniques with the masks as well, such as Spritzing, Sponging, Heat Embossing, Embossing Paste etc.

I went with a vintage vibe for this card and just love the colours. Orange tones are not ones I use often, but they really work beautifully on this card.

Instructions:

Each of the Layers of Beauty Decorative Masks are numbered in the upper left hand corner and have a notch that you can use to line up each mask in the same position for perfect placement.
TOP TIP- Once you have the first mask aligned on your stamped image, use a lead pencil to trace around the upper left corner and notch of the mask onto the grid paper, so that you can easily align the other masks.
Use removable Post It Tape, or similar, to hold each mask in place while you colour your image.
  1. I stamped the image in Crumb Cake ink onto Basic White Cardstock. I held the cardstock in place on some Grid Paper so that it wouldn't move while I coloured the flowers.
  2. I positioned my first number 1 Decorative Mask over the stamped image, tacked it down with Post It Tape and using a Blending Brush, applied Petal Pink ink, using a circular motion.
  3. I then repeated the process with the number 2 mask using Peach Pie ink.
  4. Repeat again with the number 3 mask and Pumpkin Pie ink.
  5. For the leaves I used number 4 mask with Old Olive ink, then number 5 mask with a heavier coat of Old Olive ink.
  6. Once fully coloured, I die cut the image using coordinating Layers of Beauty Dies.
  7. Using a Sponge Dauber, I lightly applied Basic Beige ink over the white spaces between the flowers and around the edges of the die cut image. This softened the colour of the white cardstock to give a more vintage appearance.
  8. I Embossed a piece of Basic Beige cardstock with the Painted Textures 3D Embossing Folder.
  9. Using a small Blending Brush I applied Basic Beige ink over the surface of the embossed detail.
  10. Using a Sponge Dauber I applied Basic Beige ink around all edges of the embossed Basic Beige layer, then adhered to the Peach Pie layer.
  11. I used a Sponge Dauber to apply Basic Beige ink around all edges of the Country Lace Designer Series Paper layer, then adhered the Designer Series Paper to the left side of the embossed layer.
  12. I ran a piece of Pecan Pie Centre Stripe Ribbon around the front of the layered pieces, approx. 1cm from the bottom and secured at the back of the Peach Pie layer using Mini Glue Dots.
  13. I tied a bow with an additional piece of ribbon and add to the left side of the ribbon strip using a Mini Glue Dot.
  14. I adhered the layered panels flat to the Old Olive card base using Stampin' Seal adhesive.
  15. I then adhered the coloured stamped image to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  16. The stamped sentiment from the Layers of Beauty Stamp Set was stamped in Old Olive ink onto a 1cm x 8.8cm piece of Basic Beige Cardstock and the ends trimmed at an angle.
  17. Using a Sponge Dauber with Basic Beige Ink, I applied ink around the edges of the sentiment strip. I then adhere it to the stamped flowers image using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
  18. I finished the card off with five Adhesive-backed Textured Dots.
