Have you ever seen a firefly, otherwise known as a lightening bug? I have never actually seen one in real life (that I recall), but I've seen them in movies and on the internet. They are really interesting bugs with their glowing bioluminescence abdomen.
Lantern Lighting the Way Card |
My Thank You card for todays blog hop is created with the Lighting the Way Stamp Set and Dies from the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue and the gorgeous Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration 2024.
I love the fireflies in this set, especially the large one because you can create the body, abdomen and wings in different colours. I changed the colour of my fireflies on my project to coordinate to my card's colour scheme, so they are not actually true to life colour. In real life their abdomen is much brighter and radiant.
I also love the lantern in the Lighting the Way Dies set as it reminds me of all the years we spent camping when I was a kid and we had lamps like this. As we got older of course we had more modern lamps and torches, but we still had at least one lantern like this for years, in the garage with all the camping stuff.
I think the lantern worked really well with the Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper. The lantern itself is die cut from one of the sheets of Designer Series Paper and layered onto a cardstock die cut lantern, for stability. I love how the Designer Series Paper gives the lantern a rustic look. I also added some ink around the edges of the lantern and the layers with a Sponge Dauber.
You can see full details of how I created this card in my video below.
