Each month, one of us takes turn to set a blog hop challenge, where we share our creativity with others through our blog hops. Be sure to hop along to them all, for lots of creative inspiration.
This month's challenge is a Colour Challenge as seen in the image below. We could choose 3-5 colours from the colour palette. For my project today I have chosen Parakeet Party, Berry Burst and Fresh Freesia.
Have you ever rollerskated? I grew up rollerskating from a young age and then when I had my own children I taught them to skate. It was one of my favourite past times, so when I saw the Curved Occasions stamp set, I knew I had to have it, with it's cute rollerskates and disco ball.
Growing up, I would zoom around the roller rink with my friends at top speed, to disco music and a mirror ball. It was an absolute blast! I also used to rollerskate around my neighbourhood on the footpaths and roads. There was one very steep hill near my house and I would skate down with my "brakes" on (side skidding with my back foot) all the way down. No idea how I never wore out my wheels. Looking back now, that hill was pretty dangerous and I would never let my own kids go down a hill like that. Hahaha.

The Curved Occasions stamp set not only has a cute roller skate and disco ball, but also has a bunch of flowers, birthday cake and the cutest little convertible car, as well as lots of different greetings, some that are curved and some that are straight, that can be curved if you choose. The Curved Occasions stamp set has a coordinating punch call the Curved Label Punch and they can be purchased as a bundle (save 10%).
For my card I also incorporated the Spiral Dye background stamp to give my card a more retro feel with the tie dye look in Parakeet Party and Fresh Freesia. I first stamped it up one way in one colour, clean it and rotated it 180 degrees and stamped it again in the other colour. That way the spirals intertwine and fill more of the white space which gives it more a psychedelic look.
The More Dazzle Specialty Paper Deckled Circle represents a disco ball, of course. I would have liked to have included the disco ball stamp, but couldn't work out the placement on this layout, so I used the More Dazzle DSP instead. How cute are the roller skates though! I absolutely love them!
The Thanks a million sentiment is a curved sentiment which easily punches out with the Curved Label Punch. The You're Great sentiment was a straight sentiment which I curved to fit the punch.

ReplyDeleteLove your card Mandy. I hadn't noticed these skatesin the catalogue, but, I also grew up loving skating as often as I could and was also a bit of a speedster and a daredevil so your intro brought back many happy memories. I also taught my kids to skate and even do jumps!!!!!! Love the psychedelic effect too.
