Snowy Winter Owls

There's something majestic about Snowy Owls and all owls in general really. Snowy owls are classified as a vulnerable species, with not many of them left in the world, which is sad because they are so beautiful. They live around the far north region of the North Pole, though in the non-breeding season they live in areas of southern Canada and Northern United States as well as parts of Asia and Europe. I wonder if anyone reading my blog has ever seen one. If you have, please let me know in the comments. I would be so interested to hear about your experience.

Snowy Winter Owls

Today is our last blog hop with Kylie and Bruno Bertucci's Demonstrator Training Program for the current program as it ends at the end of September. We have lots of amazing inspiration for you in this hop today, so be sure to hop around to each blog.

Our theme is thank you cards and I just think that my Snowy Winter Owls card will make a beautiful thank you card for my customers.

I love that the Winter Owls stamp set from the Sept-Dec 2023 Mini Catalogue, comes with three different owl stamps, a moon, a tree and snow flurry to create a gorgeous scene, as well as some beautiful sentiments. The coordinating dies easily cut out the owl images and have additional dies to cut an extra large owl in flight, a large tree stump and extra branches.

Snowy Winter Owls

I stamped the owls in Basic Gray ink and because Snowy owls are white with black/grey markings, I did not need to do any additional colouring. I did add a little dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to the eyes, but it doesn't really show, so this step could be left out.

I stamped some trees in the background onto Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper using Versamark Ink, then embossed them in white Embossing Powder. Then I added some white embossing powder to create the snow on the hollow tree trunk and brushed some off to make it look a bit more wispy and realistic. I then tore some Basic White Cardstock for the snow on the ground and added Wink of Stella to give it a snowy shimmer.

The moon and sentiment were stamped in Versamark Ink and embossed in Silver Embossing Powder. I finished off the card with Rhinestone Basic Jewels for some added bling.
