Autumn Leaves I'm Thankful Card

Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year. It reminds me of when I was a child with our HUGE Liquid Amber Trees (similar to a maple tree) in our backyard. Every year the leaves would change colour, dry up and fall to the ground. We would rake them into huge heaps, then jump into the big heap of leaves and delight in throwing the leaves on each other. It was so much fun as a child. 

The new All About Autumn Suite is the perfect suite for the Autumn and nature lovers, such as myself. You will find it on pages 42-44 in the September-December 2023 Mini Catalogue, available from 6th September 2023 - 3 January 2024. 

The All About Autumn Designer Series Paper in this suite is just stunning. One side has photographic nature images, antique books and natural textures, while the reverse side has rich colours, distressed patterns and copper foil. 

The stamps and dies in the Autumn Leaves Bundle coordinate beautifully and can be used to compliment each other, as seen in my project. I love the embossed detail and the sentiment labels in the dies too.

If you love embossing folders, like I do, then you will love the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder in this suite. Add a touch of ink with a Sponge Dauber to really make the design pop.

As I always say, every card needs ribbon and bling and the Copper & Natural Ribbon Combo Pack ribbons and the Adhesive-Backed Speckled Dots are perfect with this suite.

Measurements

Card Base - Pecan Pie cardstock - 21cm x 14.85cm, scored and folded at 10.5cm

Layer - Pecan Pie cardstock - 10.5cm x 14.85cm, embossed with Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder

Layer - All About Autumn Designer Series Paper (Very Vanilla & Copper) - 7.5cm x 11.5cm

Layer - All About Autumn Designer Series Paper (Autumn Leaves) - 7.5cm x 11.5cm

Stamped Maple Leaves - 2 x Basic White cardstock pieces - 9cm x 8cm each

Die cut Maple leaf - Pecan Pie cardstock - 9cm x 8cm; Vein - Early Espresso 9cm x 8cm

Deckled Circle - Crumb Cake cardstock - 7cm x 7cm, die cut with 5th from smallest Deckled Circle Die, embossed with stitched detail die 

Small Oak leaves - Copper Clay cardstock 2.5cm x 5cm; Pecan Pie cardstock 2.5cm x 5cm

Natural Ribbon - 10cm - fray ends

Copper Ribbon - 10cm - angle ends

I'm Thankful Sentiment Label - Very Vanilla Cardstock - 7cm x 4cm

For All You Do Sentiment Label - Very Vanilla Cardstock - 6cm x 2cm


Instructions

  1. Cut Pecan Pie card base, score and fold in half.
  2. Cut Pecan Pie layer and using the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, emboss with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder. 
  3. Using a Sponge Dauber and Pecan Pie ink, lightly rub ink all over the embossed detail and around the edges. Adhere inked embossed layer to card base.
  4. Cut Designer Series Paper layers. Adhere Very Vanilla layer at an angle, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Adhere Autumn Leaves layer at the opposite angle, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. 
  5. Using Pecan Pie and Copper Clay Classic Stampin' Pads, stamp a maple leaf in each colour onto Basic White cardstock. Using Early Espresso Classic Stampin Pad, stamp the large veins on each leaf. 
  6. Die cut stamped leaves with coordinating large maple leaf die. 
  7. Die cut a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock with the large maple leaf die. 
  8. Die cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock with the large vein die. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, or Fine Tip Glue Pen, adhere the vein to the die cut Pecan Pie maple leaf. Trim off the stem. 
  9. Using a Sponge Dauber and Pecan Pie ink, dauber ink around the edges of the maple leaf.
  10. Die cut a piece of Copper Clay Cardstock and a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock each with with the small oak leaf die. 
  11. Using a Sponge Dauber and Pecan Pie ink, dauber ink around the edges of the small Pecan Pie Oak leaf and Copper Clay around the Copper Clay Oak leaf.
  12. Die cut a Deckled Circle from the Crumb Cake Cardstock, using the 5th from the smallest Deckled Circle Die. Run the circle through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with the short stitched detail die positioned towards the bottom of the circle, then re-position at the top of the circle and run it through again. 
  13. Using Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad and a Sponge Dauber, dauber ink around circle.
  14. Position Maple leaves a little higher than the centre, overlapping one another, as seen in photo and adhere to Designer Series Paper layers using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  15. Position the circle over the base of the leaves and adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  16. Cut 10cm of Natural Ribbon and fray each end. Adhere across circle using Mini Glue Dots.
  17. Cut 10cm of Copper Ribbon and angle each end. Apply Mini Glue Dots to the centre section of Copper Ribbon so they will be hidden behind the sentiment and adhere to Natural Ribbon.
  18. Position the two small oak leaves at the top of the circle so that they are hanging off the top and the bottom ends will be under the sentiment label. Adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. 
  19. Using Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad, Stamp "I'm Thankful" sentiment onto Very Vanilla Cardstock. Die cut with long rectangle label die from the Autumn Leaves Dies.
  20. Using Early Espresso Ink and a Sponge Dauber, dauber ink around the edges of the label.
  21. Adhere the sentiment label over the ribbon using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  22. Using Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad, Stamp the small "For All You Do" sentiment onto Very Vanilla Cardstock. Die cut with narrow label die from the Autumn Leaves Dies.
  23. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the small label on the Crumbcake circle below the larger sentiment.
  24. Embellish the card with 2 small Adhesive-Backed Speckled Dots to the upper left corner of the Very Vanilla Designer Series Paper layer and one large Speckled Dot to the lower right corner of the same Very Vanilla Designer Series Paper layer.
