Triangle Pop-up card with Hello Irresistible Suite

Have you ever received a pop-up card? How fun are they, when you get that extra surprise as you open up your card! This week I made my first Triangle Pop-up card after watching my friend Fiona Carson create one. Fiona is a Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator in New Zealand and makes beautiful projects. The triangle pop-up card is pretty easy once you know how, using a ruler, pencil and scoring tool, or Paper Trimmer with a scoring blade.

The new Online Exclusives launched this week in the Online Store and so I thought it was a great opportunity to have a play with some of them to create this card. The Online Exclusives products can only be found in the online store and won't appear in any catalogue. You can find them in my Online Store by clicking HERE.

Triangle Pop-up Card with Hello Irresistible Suite - Front

  • The front panel of this card is created and then added onto the card base, once the pop-up is created.
  • To create the front panel of my pop-up card, I started with a 10.5cm x 14.85cm card front size of Flirty Flamingo cardstock.
  • I then adhered a layer of Basic White cardstock.
  • For the Designer Series Paper layer, I have used the new Hello Irresistible Designer Series Paper.
  • The Basic White Cardstock strip was embossed with one of the new Basics 3D Embossing Folders. I then used a Sponge Dauber and Flirty Flamingo ink to ink the edges of the strip and adhered it to the left side of the Designer Series Paper.
  • I wrapped a piece of Gold Satin Edges Ribbon around the white embossed strip and adhered on the back of the large Basic White layer. I then tied an extra shorter piece of ribbon around the adhered ribbon to form a knot bow and secured with a glue dot underneath the knot.
  • I used the returned 2" Circle Punch to punch the flowers from the The Hello, Irresistible 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper, then used a Sponge Dauber and Flirty Flamingo ink to ink the edges of the punched Designer Series Paper circles. I then adhered the top and bottom circles with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the centre circle with Stampin' Dimensionals
  • I stamped some leaves from the Irresistible Blooms Stamp set onto Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, using Versamark Ink and heat embossed them with White embossing powder. Using a Blending Brush, I applied some Soft Sea Foam ink to the leaves. I then die cut the leaves with the coordinating Irresistible Blooms Dies and adhered them under the edge of the centre circle.
  • For the sentiment label, I used the Irresistible Blooms stamp set and Lovely Labels Pick A Punch, then inked the edges of my label with Flirty Flamingo ink, using a Sponge Dauber. This was adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • I adhered five Loose Frosted Dots to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Once you have created your pop-up card base, this completed front panel can be adhered to your card front. The best way to do this is to apply the glue to the card base as you will have the top left corner folded inwards. Then set your front panel onto the card base, line up your edges and press firmly to adhere.

The pop-up card base is actually fairly easy to create with a ruler, pencil and scoring tool.
  • I look a folded piece of A5 cardstock and measured 5.5cm across the top from the folded tip left corner and put a pencil mark. I then measured 5.5cm down from the folded top left corner and put another pencil mark. I then lined up those pencil marks on the cutting/scoring track on my Stampin' Trimmer and scored several times so that the scoring went through to the bottom layer of cardstock.
  • I then opened up my card and gently pushed those scored lines inward toward the inside of the card. Once I had coaxed the scored triangle inwards to the inside of the card, I then folded the card and burnished the folds. You can watch this process in my video below.
  • To decorate the pop up you it is important to make sure that you have your images sitting between the score lines so that your card will close and the decorative pieces lay flat inside the card. If you put them below or out to the sides of the score lines, your card will not close. You can have your pieces go up higher than the top of the card, however just keep doing a "fold and check" to make sure they are not going to peek out of the card when the card is closed. Again, see my video for tips on this.
  • To decorate my pop-up, I stamped some flowers and leaves from the Irresistible Blooms stamp set in Versamark Ink, then heat embossed in White embossing powder.
  • Use a Blending Brush to apply ink to the flowers. Use Blushing Bride ink on the Petal Pink flowers, So Saffron ink on the So Safrron flowers and Soft Sea Foam ink on the Soft Sea Foam leaves.
  •  Die cut the flowers with coordinating dies and adhered to your pop-up using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, following tips above.
  • For the insert layers, just cut your inserts to the size you normally would, then measure and mark at 5.5cm from the top left corner, across the top and also down the left side. Line up your pencil marks on your trimmer track and this time instead of scoring on these marks, you will cut off the corner of your cardstock, using your cutting blade. Then layer your inserts inside your card.
  • Add a Designer Series Paper strip to your white insert for extra decoration.
