3D Taco Birthday Card

Talk about thinking outside the box!!! I had the best time designing and creating this 3D Taco Birthday Card for my taco-loving son and he absolutely loved it!!! It was so much fun to play with my dies and embossing folders in a different way to create all the elements of a taco.

3D Taco Birthday Card

My inspiration for this card came from the new Taco Fiesta stamp set, which I love, but I decided I wanted something more 3D and realistic. It was a late-night labour of love for many hours, as I played with many ideas and products to work out how I could create each element of a taco and make it look as realistic as possible. Then I had to work out how to put my taco onto a card base that wouldn't take away from the taco itself.

Do you every get great inspiration late at night? I do! Right when I should be going to bed. Oops!

My taco had lettuce, minced beef, cherry tomatoes and cheese of course. I even had a real taco shell on my desk to try to replicate it in cardstock. I had it in a sandwich bag, so that I didn't get any of the oils on my cardstock. I even had the bag of shredded cheese on my desk for a while too, so that I could try to mimic the colour, shape and thickness of the cheese.  I chose cherry tomatoes for my taco because I only had small citrus dies, not larger ones. So I turned my citrus into tomatoes. I am very happy with how it turned out.

I shared how I created each element of my taco card in my Facebook Live video this week and it really is the best explanation of how I created it. There were many stages in the process and you can see the video link down below.
