Lip Balm Gift Boxes

Christmas and birthdays are great times for creating 3D projects such as gift boxes, gift bags and gift packaging. With Christmas fast approaching, I thought this was a great opportunity to create some little gift boxes.

This week I created a cute little gift box which is the perfect size for a lip balm, lipstick, jewellery, small packet of lollies such as Life Savers, small packets of Mentos, fun sized Milky Way or Mars Bar or anything small really. These make great gifts for stocking fillers, table gifts. teacher's gifts, neighbours gifts and so much more.

Lip Balm Gift Box with Splendid Day Suite

I first created these a couple of months ago for my team members who attended our Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator event, called Onstage. I designed them in our team colours and added a tag which represented our team logo. They are super quick and easy to create. See my video below for a full step by step tutorial.

This week I used the Splendid Day Suite products, which will be retiring soon from the July-December 2022 Mini Catalogue. Some of these products are discounted in The Last Chance Products sale and will soon be gone for good. Check them out in my Online Store.

Below are the boxes I made this week. The Splendid Day Specialty Designer Series Paper is so pretty on these boxes. I used the Soft Sea Foam Seam Binding Ribbon to secure the box and the Splendid Stem Dies with the Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set to create the tag.

Lip Balm Gift Boxes

The ribbon slips off the box so that the gift can be accessed.
In this box I have a Nivea Lip Balm.

Measurements:

Box Base: Coloured Cardstock - 7.5cm x 12.5cm.
Score at 2.5cm on each short side and long side.
Fold and burnish each score line with a Bone Folder.
On the long side, snip each vertical score line up to the horizontal score line. Do this on both sides of the cardstock. Mitre cut each tab on both sides including the end tabs. Flip cardstock over and add adhesive to each tab. Turn it back over and form the box, one end at a time, by folding the end tabs inside the long side and press firmly to adhere.

Box Lid: Same coloured cardstock - 7.5cm x 13.5cm.
Score at 2.7cm, 5.4cm, 8.1cm & 10.8cm. Burnish each fold with a Bone Folder.
Adhere the two ends together, so that they completely overlap each other and then form box lid into a square.
Now, slide the box base inside the box lid.

Designer Series Paper Overwrap: 6.5cm x 13.7cm
Starting at the base of the box, wrap Designer Series Paper around the box, one side at a time. Pinch along the edges of each side to crease the Designer Series Paper. Once folded around the entire box, remove the paper and fold along each crease, burnishing with a Bone Folder as you go.
Next, starting at the base, adhere your Designer Series Paper to the box, one side at a time and smoothing paper down onto each side.

Wrap ribbon around the box to secure the inner sliding section and tie a bow. Decorate as desired with tags and/or embellishments, ensuring that the ribbon can still slide off box so that the inner part of the box can be slid out to reveal gift inside.
To attach the tag, use twine or trim and tie it around the bow.
