Cute Corgi Card with Glad We're Friends stamp set

Hi there and welcome to my blog today.

Today I am sharing a super cute card I made on my Monday Facebook Live using the Glad We're Friends stamp set from the 2022-2023 Annual Stampin' Up!® catalogue.

I have always thought this stamp set was super cute, especially the little Corgi dog, but when Queen Elizabeth II passed away recently I felt very sad and I knew that I had to create a Corgi card in her honour. Her Majesty The Queen loved her Corgis and apparently owned 30 Corgis in her lifetime. They are cute and robust little dogs. 

In researching Corgis I discovered that they come in many different colours, which surprised me as I had only ever seen the ginger and white coloured ones. I know the Queen mostly had the ginger and white ones, so that is the colour I decided on for my card.

I gave the Corgi a string of pearls instead of a collar, as Queen Elizabeth always wore a 3 stranded pearl necklace and matching pearl and diamond earrings. I love how the Corgi is enjoying the breeze from the fan. Look at the delight on her face. So cute!!!

To create my card, I started with a card base of Pumpking Pie and used a floral piece of the Butterfly Kisses 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper which compliments the Corgi perfectly. I know The Queen loved her garden, so this floral paper was perfect. I also used the 2022-2024 In Color Glimmer Paper in the Starry Sky colour. It has an ombre effect, so is lighter at one end. In my mind it seemed as if the fan had blown away some of the colour, along with the sentiment, which is also stamped in Starry Sky. I used Stampin Blends for colouring the stamped image in light and dark Pumpkin Pie for the Corgi, light Melon Mambo for the tongue, Dark Smoky Slate for the fan, light Gray Granite for the shadow to ground the image and light Starry Sky for the streamers on the fan. The ribbon is Starry Sky Metallic Woven Ribbon and of course the Pearl Basic Jewels to embellish.

Base - Pumpkin Pie Cardstock - 29.7cm x 10.5cm, scored and folded at 14.85cm

Designer Series Paper - Butterly Kisses - 14.45cm x 10.1cm

2022-2024 In Color Glimmer Paper - Starry Sky - 14.45cm x 7.6cm

Thick Basic White Cardstock - 14.45cm x 7cm

Ribbon - Starry Sky Metallic Woven Ribbon - 2 pieces of 16cm, plus 2 pieces of 5cm for bows
