A Day Without Cookies Card

Hi there and welcome to my blog. Today we are blog hopping, which is always fun and a great place to get lots of creative inspiration. I have a really cute and yummy card for you today. Hope it doesn't make you too hungry. Lol.

I am participating in Bruno and Kylie Bertucci's Demonstrator Training Program monthly Blog Hop, with other Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we have been hopping together to share our projects and offer you some amazing creative inspiration. This month is our last hop together for the current Training Program. After you have finished here on my blog, be sure to hop along to the other Demonstrator's Blogs for some more awesome projects and inspiration. You will see the list below.

This month I decided to pull out one of my older stamp sets that has been sitting on my shelf for a while and hasn't seen the ink pad in quite a while. The Nothing's Better Than Stamp Set is such a fun two-step stamp set, with lots of images and fun sentiments.

I needed this stamp set to create a specific card for a specific someone...my husband to show my appreciation for everything he does. You see Hubby looooooves choc chip cookies (and choc chip muffins) and so this, of course, was the perfect stamp set. We always have to have plenty of choc chip cookies in the house at all times! They are a daily requirement and they go wherever we go if we are going to be away from home for any length of time. Lol. They are his go-to snack, so I think he will really love and appreciate this card. This card would make a great thank you card to send to someone, or even just a funny light-hearted card to send to shed some light and laughter into someone else's life.

As I was thinking about this card I was feeling a bit stumped. I searched Pinterest for ideas (as we do) and there were some great cards there, but nothing really jumped out at me to inspire this particular card. So I thought "Hang on, we have a cookie box in the pantry" and so that was perfect for my inspiration. As it turns out, inspiration can be found almost anywhere, even on a box of cookies!!!

These ones are hubby's favourite
I looked closely at the design, font, colours and element placement on the cookie box and drew inspiration from these for my project today.

Here is what I came up with:

A Day Without Cookies Card

You might be wondering how I got from the cookie box to my final card design.

The top and bottom of the box, which you can't see in the cookie box photo, is a brown/gold colour and so I chose Soft Suede as the card base. Perfect. I then of course had to have some Early Espresso in there to represent the chocolate chips and to add texture like you see on the box, in the background. I embossed the Early Espresso layer with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder to represent shaved chocolate. Gold is found in the font shadow on the box and the starburst label in the bottom right of the box, so I added a Gold Foil Cardstock layer. Then I added a Crumb Cake layer to tie in the cookie colour. White is the main colour on the box, so I added my elements to a Basic White layer. The gold ribbon is to replace the starburst label and you may notice that I bannered the ends to represent the star burst edges. You may notice under the name of the cookies on the box there is a dotted line, which I thought looked like a stitched line, so I decided to use the Stitched Rectangle dies for my white layer to represent the stitched line on the box. For the cookie colour I took a couple of the cookies out of the box  and put them in a sandwich bag on my desk to try to match the cookie colour as close as possible. I tried a few different colour combos before I got one I was happy with. I used the Love You More Than Dies, which coordinate with the stamp set, to cut the word Chocolate in both Early Espresso and Gold and layered them together, offsetting them with the gold shadow, just like on the cookie box. I also used the dies to die cut all of the cookies. Yes, I am a detail girl, as you probably guessed. If would like to see exactly how I created this card, I will add the video below.
