Forever Friendship Retro Typewriter Card

Hi Friend and welcome to my blog today. I have a cute retro card to share with you today.

Do you remember the good old manual typewriters? You know the ones with the clunky keys you had to press really hard, that had a return handle, ink tape and made a clicketty click sound with every key stroke?

I have vivid memories of an old black one that my Mum had in our family factory office when I was very little. It was actually pre-retro and would be considered vintage now. I used to love visiting the office, having a play on the typewriter and being fascinated by the mechanics of how it worked. I have no idea how my Mum used to type so efficiently on that old thing, but somehow she did.

Jump forward to the retro era and that brings us to the more updated portable kind of typewriter. Well, Stampin' Up!® has a new stamp set called Forever Friendship in the July-Dec 2022 Mini Catalogue, which has a cute image of a retro typewriter as well as some other images and so that brings me to my project for this week. I just couldn't resist this one.

I have paired the typewriter stamp with the Lovely in Linen Designer Series Paper to add to the retro feel of this card. I love the linen look in the background of this paper and the bold designs fit my theme perfectly. I also used a piece of Vellum Cardstock for one of the layers and dry embossed it with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, which went so well with the typewriter, at the same time softening part of the patterned paper a little.

For the card sketch layout I searched on Pinterest and found a layout from July 2014 by Maureen Plut.

I stamped the image in Versamark ink and heat embossed it using Black Stampin' Emboss Powder. I used my brand new Embossing Additions Tool Kit to aid in the heat embossing process, which was super helpful. I love the new embossing tray, which makes clean up so much easier. 

I then coloured the image with Stampin' Blends. I didn't need many colours for this image, which made it quick and easy to colour.
