Sea themed birthday

There is something calming about the ocean. Sitting on the sand and watching the power of the waves. Finding sea shells along the shore and of course all the amazing marine life in the water.

Last week my daughter celebrated her 27th birthday and as she is a marine mammal keeper, we had a sea themed birthday celebration for her with our family.

She studied marine biology and zoology at university and currently she works with an amazing dugong, called "Pig" (I know it's a bit confusing - his name is Pig, but he is a dugong, not a pig). She also works with sting rays and penguins, which is absolutely amazing. The dream job!

My older daughter made an amazing dugong card for her using Stampin' Up! cardstock and Designer Series Paper, using a pattern that she created from a photograph. She also made a beautiful cake and decorated the house for her sister in a sea-theme.

I created a seashells card using the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set, Artistically Inked stamp set (sentiment), Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, Vellum Cardstock, In Good Taste Designer Series Paper, Metallic Mesh Ribbon, Linen Thread and Opal Rounds.Classic Stampin Pad Colours I used were Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Cinnamon Cider, Cajun Craze.

It was great to get this stamp set out again and have a play. I hadn't used it in quite some time, though it is still current in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue.

Here are some of the decorations and the awesome cake. My daughter used some pieces of our Coral succulent plant to represent real ocean coral to decorate the house, along with real sand and seashells. Very clever idea, I thought!

How amazing does the cake look and check out her card below!
My daughter did such a great job, don't you think!
