Autumn Tree with Beauty of the Earth Suite

Have you ever piled up all those crunchy Autumn leaves and then jumped into them?

I have many wonderful childhood memories of the beautiful Autumn leaves from our Liquid Amber trees in our backyard. I'm not so sure my parents appreciated all the mess that the leaves created as they fell, but it was so much fun to rake them all up into huge piles and jump into them, then throw them up in the air and run through them. Of course then they would need to be raked up again, but it was so much fun.

I was a bit of a climber and adventurer as a kid, not always considering my own safety, but hey what kid does? The more challenging it was, the better. Nowadays of course I am the total opposite and can't believe I did some of those things. Hahaha.

The Liquid Amber trees in our backyard were huge and I would always climb up as high as I could. The colour of the leaves in Autumn were absolutely beautiful and I still remember the crunchy sound of them underfoot and the prickly "Pomblies"(seed pods) as we called them that they would drop on the ground. If you trod on one of those with your bare feet, you sure knew about it! Big Ouchies!!!

The colours in this project I created were inspired by memories of those beautiful trees, as they started to change colour. I also love the rough bark background that I created to resemble the rough bark of the Liquid Amber trees, though from memory the Liquid Amber tree trunk was more of a greyish colour, rather than brown. Oh I can feel another project coming on...

Autumn Tree with Beauty of the Earth Suite

I did quite a bit of distressing with Sponge Daubers on this project, which is my favourite colouring technique. I just love a bit of daubering and I think I pretty much do it on most projects.

I created the colours in the tree by die cutting the tree top section in Basic White cardstock and used Sponge Daubers with various colours (as seen below) to create the colour tones I wanted. Then added some Smoky Slate ink softly around the edges of the white die cut birds.

The tree trunk was cut from a piece of Early Espresso Cardstock.

I daubered some Old Olive ink on the edges of the torn grass from the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper.  I lightly daubered Early Espresso ink on the embossed Bark background, which I had embossed with the Bark 3D Embossing Folder.
I love the variations in trees, leave and watercolour designs of this Designer Series Paper, as it lends itself to so many options. In my project I used two of the watercoloured pieces, which were perfect for the sky and grass. The sky piece is actually adhered to a Basic White piece as well for strength, so that I could mount the whole section on Stampin' Dimensionals.

If you love nature, then this is definitely the suite for you. It's gorgeous and has so many options and so much versatility. I have barely even touched the stamps yet, except for the sentiments, and can't wait to incorporate the tree stamps into my future projects.

Be sure to check out The Beauty of the Earth Suite products if you haven't already. The suite contains Stamps, Dies, Designer Series Paper and the 3D Bark Embossing Folder.
