Floral Patchwork Card

Thank you for visiting my blog today.

Have you seen the Stitched Triangle Dies and the Right Triangle Stamp Set? Today I am sharing with you a card that I have been designing in my mind ever since I saw the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue (which was way back in May).
As soon as I saw the Stitched Triangle Dies, I knew I wanted to make a patchwork card. It just took me a little time to have to think about the design and order the products I needed.
You see, patchwork quilting has a very special place in the heart of our family. My Mum was a patchworker and made beautiful quilts, some of which I have inherited and some which she had made for the grandchildren when they were young. I had always loved her quilts and loved watching how she made them, though I never made one myself.
However years ago I dabbled in a bit of patchwork design in my scrapbooking, so I feel like it has come full circle. I even hunted down my old patterns last night which I had stashed away in a safe place.
So here I am again enjoying my kind of patchwork...in papercrafting. I hope you enjoy my card which I have designed especially for todays Blog Hop.

The total finished card measures 14.5cm x 14.5cm, so unfortunately I had to trim off some of the outside edges as the design was 2 cm too big to fit on a folded piece of cardstock. However the full size would've made a great decor piece in a shadow box.
Perhaps I will do that next or perhaps somebody else will beat me to it. Haha. (Be sure to send me a photo if you do. I would love to see it)

I played with a few different Designer Series Paper designs and coloured cardstock combinations until I got exactly what I was after.

Once I had decided on my colour scheme I chose the Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper and Misty Moonlight Cardstock.
I then worked out how many of each triangle I would need and I die cut them all and stacked them in piles.
I then measured and marked the centre of my Whisper White card base to help with alignment. (I ended up drawing a horizontal and vertical central line right across the card).

Following the patchwork pattern, I started to lay all the pieces on the card front.

Then I added the Misty Moonlight corner pieces, which made the Patchwork design really pop and finished off afterwards with a Whisper White triangle in each corner.
You can see in this photo how much too big the design was for the card base.

Once I had all the pieces laid out, I look a photo and dismantled the design.
Using my photo as a guide, I glued each triangle into place using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow), which allowed me some wiggle-room to get them in the best position.

I finished off my card by adding a lovely sentiment label with Stampin' Dimensionals to lift it off the patchwork design, then a bow and a few pearls.
I just love this patchwork design and the Designer Series Paper really looks like fabric.
