Life’s too short to say no the CAKE

How do you with go making teenager cards?
How do you go with making masculine cards?
Well, put these two things together and you get teenager masculine card and that’s exactly what I needed for my friend's son's 18th birthday today. Now that's a challenge!
These two things I struggle with because I usually love to make pretty, layered, floral, embellished cards. (They are my go to cards).

I decided to feature a fun sentiment as the focal point, using a couple of the awesome new products from the upcoming 2019 Occasions Catalogue, which will be available from 3rd January 2019. I have seen a few cards made with these large sentiment stamps and thought this would be perfect for my friend's son. And who wouldn't want to eat cake, right?

So here is my fun project, the products used and below you will see the full list of products and where to find them.

Here's how I made my card:

I started by stamping the Buffalo Check background onto Whisper White Cardstock using Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad and layered this onto a card base of Thick Whisper White Cardstock.
I then cut the gray wood texture Designer Series Paper from the Festive Farmhouse DSP using the 3rd largest Rectangle Stitched Framelits.
I stamped the fun sentiment in Tuxedo Memento Black Ink and gave it a short time to completely dry before colouring the word CAKE with the Dark Mango Melody Stampin' Blend to add a pop of colour.
I then layered the stamped DSP onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock using Tear 'n Tape.
I used the Dark Mango Melody Stampin' Blend to colour the ribbon so that it matched the word CAKE in the sentiment and it dried within a couple of minutes. I then wrapped the ribbon around the DSP and Smoky Slate cardstock and adhered at the back.
I decided I wanted my focal piece to stand up off the background, so I mounted the entire panel on Dimensionals then layered it onto the Buffalo Check background.
To finish off the card and add some extra dimension and interest I added 3 black Faceted Dots, because even masculine cards need some bling!!!
I forgot to take a photo of the inside, but I layered some Smoky Slate, Mango Melody and Whisper White cardstock and stamped a large Happy Birthday greeting in the centre.
