Colour Me Happy

So, who loves colouring and who loves colouring books? Have you ever tried colouring stamped images for hand-made cards and projects? Who loves trying different colouring mediums? There are so many to choose from nowadays.

No longer is colouring in just for kids!!! Yay!!! (I no longer need to make excuses for myself).
In recent years colouring and colouring books have become quite a trend for adults too, with so many products on the market now.

Going back to the early days....
Years ago (about 17 years to be exact), when I first started card making, we use to stamp and colour most of our images for our hand-made cards. That's just how we did it! Over the years the trends changed and this became a thing of the past and we moved into using different coloured ink pads and bolder stamped images (which I still use and love, by the way).
Well I am very pleased to say that the colouring trend has been revitilised and brought back to life and now there are so many more mediums to choose from... and I am loving it.

I've been playing with the new Stampin' Blends alcohol markers by Stampin' Up! These are such fabulous colouring tools.
I am new to alcohol markers, so I am learning and practicing all the tips and tricks of how to use them (YouTube has been very helpful).  I must say I am loving the results and they are so easy to use. I love that you can achieve a smoothly coloured image with depth, shading and highlighting.

***Note - You need to stamp your image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and allow the ink to dry before starting colouring with your Blends, so that the image does not smudge.
Basic Black Archival Ink doesn't work well with the Blends as it is a waterbased ink, so the image will smudge if it comes into contact with the alcohol in the markers.

The Stampin' Blends come in a range of colours, with light and dark shades in each colour. There are also two skin tone colours and a colour lifter for lightening and highlighting areas, as well as for correcting those little boo boos (of course I NEVER colour outside of the lines....Haha! - Lol).
Each of the colours are from the Stampin' Up! colour range, which means they co-ordinate with our other products such as our inks, coloured Cardstock, Designer Series Papers, Ribbons, Trims and Embellishments.

The Stampin' Blends can be purchased individually, in duos of light and dark shade, or as a complete set.

Here is a sweet little gift set I made last week for my beautiful mother-in-law.

The card was made using the Colour Me Happy Project Kit and Colour Me Happy Stamp Set, which co-ordinate with the new Stampin' Blends and can be bought individually or in a bundle.

The box was made using a mini pizza box with a flower stamp from the Flower Shop Stamp set.
The stamped images were all coloured and highlighted using the Stampin' Blends.

Here's a close up of the coloured images. I have used light and dark Pink Pirouette and light and dark Pool Party. I love blending the colours and it gives such a nice effect.

For the box I chose Designer Series Paper in Pool Party, added a pretty Gold foil doily, Pink Piroutte Cardstock and Powder Pink ribbon to co-ordinate the card.

Here is a photo of what you get in the Colour Me Happy Project Kit. You get all the supplies and embellishments to make 16 cards. That is 4 cards of 4 different designs and beautiful matching envelopes with gold foil edging.

There are 4 designs in the kit.

This is the the Colour Me Happy Stamp set. Aren't the little birds so adorable?

Why not give it a try? You might discover that you find a new love, just like I have.
