Beautiful Butterflies

Do you love butterflies as much as I do?
If you answered yes, then you will love the new butterfly stamp sets, punch and Thinlits dies in the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Occasions Catalogue.

I made this pretty butterfly card in lovely soft pastels, though the photos don’t do it justice and it’s hard to capture the true colours on film (unless you are a professional photographer of course, which I most definitely am not).

I have used both butterfly bundles for this card. The Butterfly Gala bundle, consisting of the Butterfly Gala stamp set and coordinating Butterfly Duet punch, as well as the Beauty Abounds bundle, consisting of Beauty Abounds stamp set and Butterfly Beauty Thinlits dies.
These bundles can be found in the 2019 Occasions catalogue on pages 13 & 35.

Below are photos of my finished card and how I created it.

I  just love these gorgeous butterflies.

These pretty pastel colours coordinate beautifully and I loved colouring with the Stampin’ Write Markers, using the brush tip end.
The colours I have used are Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam and Powder Pink.

I created the background by randomly stamping the flourish from the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set, all over the Powder Pink cardstock using Versamark ink, then embossed with white Embossing powder.

I then stamped the butterflies from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set onto Whisper White cardstock, using Soft Suede Stampin’ Pad and coloured them with the Stampin’ Write Markers.
I wanted the colours to be soft with some white showing through as well, so I used a gentle flicking motion starting from the centre of the butterfly as I coloured, rather than colouring the images solidly.
I then punched out all the butterflies with the Butterfly Duet punch.
Next came the shaping of the butterflies, using the bone Folder and then the large stylus end of the Take Your Pick Tool. For the shaping of the flowers I used the stylus.

I also die cut some flourishes and blossoms from the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies and some little flowers from the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack, also in the Occasions Catalogue.
The sentiment was stamped from the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set in Soft Suede and die cut with the Layering Ovals Framelits dies which can be found in the Annual catalogue.
I finished off with some pretty pearl embellishments, because I feel no card is complete without some bling.

*** A little note about the cardstock - I used a piece of Stampin' Up! Vellum cardstock over the Pool Party Cardstock to soften the blue slightly.
